A: GGFC’s training and player development differ from other clubs. We emphasize individual creativity and development. Our coaches are part of the Positive Coaching Alliance and we like to encourage our players through positive, constructive feedback.
What programs do you offer?

What is Formativo?
A: Formativo is beginner soccer program that helps younger children get introduced to the game of soccer and teach foundational skills. We have Formativo for both girls and boys. Training for Formativo is once a week with no games or competitions throughout the year.
What is travel soccer?
A: Travel soccer is a competitive program for players to continue to grow and have a strong drive to develop their soccer abilities and love of the game. Players that are ready to play competitive soccer, want to learn new skills, are ready to make the necessary commitment to play travel soccer and are ready to be coached by licensed coaching staff will benefit from playing travel soccer.
What is TPT?
A: Our Technical Performance Training program is for players that may not quite be ready for our travel programs, but have strong promise! Our Technical Performance Program gives players individualized attention for the first 30 minutes of practice and then the players join in their age group’s practice. Please note, in this program players do not compete in games, this option is geared towards players developing their individual skillsets - technical skills, tactical knowledge, strength, endurance, coordination - to best prepare them for travel soccer.
Where do teams practice?
Our teams mainly practice at Pier 40 on the rooftop or courtyard, to supplement those trainings we also may have practices at Chelsea Waterside Park or JJ Walker.
How often do teams practice and compete?
*Number of tournaments vary based on the travel team age.
Where are home games?
A: Our home games are at Pier 40 in the courtyard.
What leagues will you play in?
A: As of right now all of our teams compete in the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL).
When is the season and how long is it?
A: The competitive soccer season runs from September to June. Our Formativo Program follows the same start and stop dates.
Will my kid get help if she wants to play in college?
A: We offer recruiting seminars for players and parents
I’m not sure what level my child should play. How should I proceed?
A: If you are uncertain about in which division your child should tryout, for starters it’s a good idea to talk with their current coach. GGFC can coordinate a trial session to see what might be the best fit.
A friend does not have Internet access. How can they register their child?
A: Parents may make an appointment with a staff member to go to get support from ED, please call (408)656-2329 to schedule appointment.
Where/when are tryouts?
A: Our club wide tryouts occur around April & May for the upcoming fall season. However, if your child has missed the official tryout date, we are happy to host an open tryout throughout the year at one of our training sessions. Simply email email@example.com for more details.
How do I try out?
A: Steps to tryout for a team:
Can I watch my kid tryout?
A: You do not need to stay for the tryout, but parents are more than welcome to watch the tryout.
Does it cost money to tryout?
A: No it does not cost money, to tryout for a team is free! We just ask you to register online prior to the tryout date for registration and insurance purposes.
What do I need wear and bring to tryouts?
A: Just want you would normally bring to soccer practice! Generally, you should wear: soccer socks, cleats, shinguards; and bring a soccer ball and water bottle.
When do I find out if I made a team?
A: You and your child will find out if you made the team 2 weeks from the tryout date.
Who will notify me on the tryout results? / How do I find out if I made the team?
A: You will receive and email from the Technical Director and Executive Director notifying you if you made a team.
Can I watch during tryouts?
Parents may observe tryouts from designated areas, however, GGFC does not permit parents to talk specifically to, or coach their child, during the session.
How can I help prepare my child for this experience?
For many children, this may be the first experience they will have with being selected, or conversely, with not being selected. It’s important that you, as a parent, manage their expectations.
How are players selected for teams?
The players performance over the course of the previous year combined with their efforts during tryouts are used to help select the most appropriate team/level for each player. Your daughter’s previous coach, tryout evaluators and full time TD all have input into decisions on where your child is best suited.
Does GGFC offer tuition assistance?
A: Yes, GGFC offers a free installment payment options and scholarships for those who qualify. All payments need to be submitted by March 1st of the following season. Please note, late payments will incur a service fee.
What are the tuition prices for the 2019-20 Season?
A: As a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, GGFC strives to prove the highest quality youth soccer experience at the most affordable price. Our tuition is set to cover our expenses, and not to make a profit.
How much does registration cost and what are the travel team fees?
A: Registration is $300 and the travel fee cost varies with team age. Please note: we have scholarships available. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, the application can be found on our website under “Resources.”
What is and is not included in travel team fee?
A: Included in the travel team fee:
Not included in the travel team fee are: uniforms, futsal program, gear, and reimbursement for travel to and from games/tournaments.
Are tournament registration/trainer fees included in tuition?
A: Yes, based upon the age of the team, selected tournaments are included in the tuition to facilitate appropriate player development and/or college showcase opportunities. However, player travel & player hotel costs are excluded.
What if my child gets injured during the course of the season/year?
Generally, no refunds of payments will be made once a player has been accepted into a program. Additionally, each family must pay all fees for the year regardless of circumstances that may arise limiting a player’s activity. Any request for a special waiver of this policy based on extraordinary circumstances must be made in writing to the Executive Director. The decision of the Finance Committee is final.

Does Gotham Girls FC fundraise?
A: Yes, as a non-profit 501c3 we leverage fundraising efforts to supplement our scholarship fund and offset operating expenses.
