Most of our teams have finished up their WYSL season aside from Potrero which has one more competition left! It has been an exciting season as each team has found their own type of success throughout the past few months. Some teams were moved to higher divisions for more of a challenge, we have had additions of new players to the club, and coaches have started introducing more tactics and techniques for our players to adopt. Overall, it was a great season of growing and learning as players, which is always our goal as a club.
Notably, our U13 Zamba team completed the season with a top finish in their division. Zamba only conceded four goals all season while scoring 16. They continued to find the joy of the game each week while working together under the guidance of Coach Adrian. Great job, Zamba!
Our U11 Cruziero team came together for their first ever season with Gotham Girls FC this fall and made us proud in their work ethic and attitude each day they played. Coach Cristian is very excited to see where the young group will climb to as soccer players!
Coach Jose reflected on the last game for U12 Flamengo, "The girls weren’t intimidated by other teams and kept playing their own game by using their skills and connecting passes. I’m very proud of how the girls played."
Coach Dani about his U14 Pelada team said, "The girls throughout the entire season showed very very good soccer they made very very big improvement this season playing more as a team opening up the field great passing and although the results might not show that I am very proud of them for the soccer they show on the field."
Coach Cristian said his boys "have good ball control and create a lot of opportunities to score." He is looking forward to working with his team on possession and connecting passes between each functional line on the field.
U15 Arsenal competed in the highest division in WYSL and certainly experienced new challenges and grew from the competition. Coach Jose said after the last game, "For this being the girls third game the girls played very well...The girls were sharing the ball with the goalkeeper and as a team and were using their skills the way I want them to with possession. They then began playing with more attitude and overall it was really nice to watch the girls play."
Our high school Potrero team is our only team still competing in the regular season. They have grown very much this fall, playing in the highest division for their age group and competing in high level showcases.
With a completed fall season for almost all of our teams, we are looking forward to an offseason of training and futsal to perfect their technical abilities and team trainings to tune up on the tactics.
Gotham Girls FC has a bright future with these growing teams, and we are looking forward to both the Winter training to continue to grow as well as the Spring season to compete in WYSL again!
