This past weekend we had four of our GGFC teams compete in the Parsippany Pride Tournament! It was an opportunity for Cruziero, Flamengo, Zamba, and Arsenal to travel New Jersey and compete with teams outside of WYSL.
It was exciting for our U11 Cruziero team to get to experience their first tournament ever! The competition at the tournament challenged them in new ways that the team could learn from and use towards the rest of the WYSL season. Coach Cristian said "the support around the team has been great. There is more work to do and strides to be made, but a very good experience."
U12 Flamengo worked together throughout the weekend and took away a 1-0 win over RYAS Wildcats on Saturday. Overall the team finished in 3rd. Head Coach, Jose Goicochea Jr., is excited about the team's progress and the potential the team continues to show.
U13 Zamba also had a great weekend with two, big 1-0 wins on both Saturday and Sunday. Highlights of two the team goals can be found on the Zamba team page on the GGFC website!
Lastly, U14 Pelada had a phenomenal weekend racking up 2 wins and a tie that pushed them through into the playoffs where they beat STA in a close match that ended in 2-1. It was a well fought weekend for the team, as Pelada finished the playoff round in second place.
Our U15 and HS teams will return to action and start their mini seasons soon with games in WYSL. Both teams will compete next month in the EDP Cup Fall Showcase in New Jersey. Stay tuned for more details!
